What is Vietnam eVisa?

Vietnam evisa or Vietnam electronic visa (symbolized as EV) has been introduced by the Vietnam Immigration Department since February 2, 2017. This kind of Vietnamese visa is applied for and issued online.

What does a Vietnam e visa look like?

A Vietnam evisa shows the following details:

• Full name, Date of birth, Nationality, Passport Number, Passport’s Expiry date of the evisa holder
• Travel dates (visa validity)
• Purpose of entry
• Inviting/ guaranteeing agency/ organization and its address, phone number (if any)
• Unique QR code which shows some details about the evisa holder, including Passport number and nationality.

Note:

• The evisa does not carry a red stamp of the Vietnam Government authority as it is issued online.
• The latest Vietnam e visa version does not show its holder’s gender which has been declared in the application form and already stored in the Vietnam Immigration Department’s database system. So in case your airlines asks for your gender in the visa, you can explain the fact to them.

Vietnam eVisa Requirements

To apply for an Evisa for Vietnam, you must make sure that:

1. Your passport is valid for at least 6 months following arrival date and has at least 02 blank pages;
2. You have a soft copy of a passport-size photo (see Vietnam visa photo requirements);
3. You have soft copies of your passport personal data page which must be full and clear;
4. You have an exact entry port;
5. You have a credit/debit card to make payment online for e-visa fee, (American Express card is not accepted).

How long does Vietnam evisa take? It normally takes 03 – 05 working days to receive the e-visa letter. However, the processing time might be extended in case of a large number of applications or public holidays, and in case you are requested to add details for your application. • Read carefully all the terms and conditions before confirming to proceed

• Upload your passport page and portrait photo that meets this evisa photo requirements.
• Complete your form with the following details:
  • Personal information
    • Surname & Middle and given name (Enter name as on the ICAO line in the passport; If the passport contains only the Surname or Given names, just enter Given names)
    • Date of birth (full DD/MM/YYYY or year only)
    • Sex
    • Nationality
    • Email
    • Religion
    • Place of birth
    • Answer questions regarding if you have used any other passport to enter Vietnam, or if you have multiple nationalities or if you have violated any Vietnamese law/regulation.
  • Visa information, including requested type of visa and validity
  • Passport information, including number, place of issue, type, date of issue, and expiry date
  • Contact information, including:
    • Permanent address, contact address, phone number, and emergency contact (full name, current address, phone number and relationship)
  • Occupation (optional, but might be asked in certain cases which will result in extended processing time)
  • Trip details, including purpose of entry, intended date of entry, intended length of stay in Vietnam, and address in Vietnam (including city/province, district, ward), intended entry port and exit port.
  • Children under 14 years old sharing the same passport (if any and traveling with you)
  • Trip’s expenses and insurance (optional, but might be asked in certain cases which will result in extended processing time)

• Verify your information, and then you will get a registration code (which will be also sent to your registered email).

Note:

• Although your personal details and passport details might be automatically read from your uploaded passport, you are highly recommended to check them carefully to make sure no wrong information is recorded, as it might result in extended processing time or issued evisa with wrong information, leading to an invalid visa.
• No group application is allowed.
• No urgent processing option is available.

Check Vietnam eVisa status and Download

Here are the steps to check your Vietnam evisa application status and download it when the evisa is issued.

1. Go to https://evisa.gov.vn/e-visa/search and enter required information to check your eVisa application status:
   • Registration code
   • Email
   • Date of birth
2. See the Application status. If it is Granted visa, you can see your evisa by cliking on the Green arrow next to print visa.
3. Click on Download icon to download your evisa.
