The Agreement was signed on November 30, 1979 and entered into effect on the date of its signing. The exemption of visa includes exemption of visa for entry, exit and transit. The duration of stay subject to visa exemption begins from the date of entry. The contents of visa exemption agreed upon between Vietnam and Pakistan are as follows:

- Exemption of visa is granted to bearers of diplomatic passports or official passports with the stay duration not exceeding 90 days. The stay duration may be extended by each party at a written request of concerned diplomatic mission or consular posts.
- Exemption of visa during the whole tenure is granted to bearers of diplomatic passports or official passports who are members of diplomatic missions, consular posts or representative missions of international organizations and their families’ members bearing diplomatic passports or official passports (including their spouse, children under 18 years old). These people are liable to complete required procedures of residence registration within 90 days from the date of their entry.

My name is Asif Baloch and i want to visit Vietnam with my wife, daughter (5 years)and a new born baby. we are planning to visit Vietnam in February 2012. i and my wife have passports which shows that we are Government employees of Pakistan, but our passports are not diplomatic. would we need visa to travel from Brisbane (Australia)to Vietnam. we have been living in Australia since 3 years.
