I have resided in Vietnam for about 5 years. I currently have a work permit and a 3 years valid temporal residence card. I’m interested to have the Vietnam permanent residence (nationality?), which I understand is now possible to those who have legally resided in Vietnam for more than 5 years.

Please, kindly advise the requirements and procedures to obtain this.

    Hi!

Is it true that the Immigration of Vietnam does not grant Temporary Residence Card for those foreign workers working for “Sole Proprietorship” company or ” Doanh Nhgiep”? Because when I tried to apply for amendments for my TRC my agency said that they have a new rule for issuing TRC with respect to class of company where the foreigner are working for.

Could I have any info regarding this policy?

    Thanks

Hi, I have a 5 year visa exemption, is it possible for me to have my entry stamp after 3 months from an overland border post, eg. Cambodia, or must I still have entry stamped at airport only?

  16. Julia says:

    @Paul,
Please inform that once you get 5 years visa extension you do not have to do procedure to get your stamped visa any more. You just need to show your passport.

    Best regards,
    Susan Nguyen

  17. Paul says:

Thank you Ms Nguyen for your reply, but my entry stamp when I arrived in Vietnam was valid for 3 months, until April, so that means I still need to get an updated entry stamp at that time. Do I need to leave the country and return to airport for that stamp or can I get stamp at overland border countrol. Many thanks, Paul

        Hi Julia,

I am currently living in HCMC,Vietnam. I arrived Vietnam in December 2007 and has been living in Vietnam since then. I am currently on Temporary Residence Card which will expire in May 2012. I am in the process of getting married with a local Vietnamese woman. According to your reply above, once I get my Vietnam marriage certificate, I will be granted 5 years-exempted visa according to the Vietnam Immigration’s policy.

        My questions are:

        1. I assumed this 5 years exempted visa and the Permanent residence card application are two different issues? Am I correct? That means I can get this 5 years exempted visa and apply for Permanent residence later (if I decided to at a later stage).

        2. If they are, where do I go to get it endorsed for this 5 years exempted visa??

        3. If I successfully applied for a Permanent Residence Card, will I be able to register a local VN company with the Department of Planning and investment??

        4. If I successfully applied for a Permanent Residence Card, will I be able to apply for Vietnam Citizenship? (My country where I am a citizen allows dual citizenship). If so, what are the procedures and requirement?

Thank you for your kind assistance and looking forward to your reply.

        Regards,

        Lawrence
