Get Vietnam visa from Bangkok (Thailand)
73 CommentsFor those who reside or stay in Bangkok (Thailand) at the time of waiting for the visa to Vietnam, there are two ways to get Vietnam visa, through Vietnam Embassy in Bangkok (Thailand), or get Visa on Arrival via online service:
Get Vietnam Visa through Vietnam Embassy in Bangkok (Thailand)
- Issuing unit: Vietnamese Embassy in Bangkok Thailand
- Processing time: 5 to 7 working days
- Processing fee: 50 – 85 USD/person
- Additional fee: Postal cost
- With Passport requirement
- How to get it? You reach this Embassy in person and follow the required procedures.
Get Vietnam Visa on Arrival via visa service:
- Issuing unit: Vietnam Immigration Department
- Processing time: 2 to 3 working days
- Processing fee: 21. 25 USD (1 month single), 26.25 USD (1 month multiple), 35 USD (3 month single)…more (stamping fee NOT included)
- Without Passport requirement
- How to get it? You go online at http://www.vietnam-visa.com, fill in the secure form, and just wait 2-3 days until you receive your Visa Approval Letter, and take this + your passport + 2 photos to Vietnam to get your visa at airport. This seems to be the cheapest and easiest way to get a visa to Vietnam from Bangkok (Thailand).

Do I need to show the financial evidences in applying for a Vietnamese visa from Bangkok?
Dear Eddy,
No, you do not need to show any documents other than: Your visa application form + your passport + 2 photos, and pay some fee to get your Vietnam visa done.
To save your time, please apply online for a visa code at http://www.vietnam-visa.com (to be completed in 1 or 2 days). You just need to bring this visa code to the Embassy in Bangkok to get your visa
Or, if you travel by air, you’d better apply for visa on arrival (to pick up visa at arrival airport) by filling in the online form at http://www.vietnam-visa.com! This is the best way to get a visa to Vietnam (without showing any evidences, etc.)
Good luck!
Hi Admin,
I am in a similar situation to Eddy, wanting to present myself at the Vietnam Embassy in Bangkok, but as I will be crossing the border from Cambodia I don’t believe I can save time by filling out the electronic application for a visa code. The application requires that you state which airport you will be landing at. Is this correct? I am concerned that it may take a long time at the Embassy in Bangkok. Can you advise please?
Thanks
David
Dear David,
Thank you for contacting us!
We would like to inform that at present we can only provide visa on arrival (Visa to be picked up at the arrival airport in Vietnam and applicable for those who travel by air only).
In your case, you are suggested to come directly to Vietnamese Embassy/ Consulate where you are living or staying to obtain your Vietnam visa there.
You need to take your passport, a passport-sized photo, and cash in person to the Consulate, where you will be interviewed about the purpose of your visit. You must also pay the stamping fee and wait in a few days ( around 4-7 days) to get the visa. Please note that the application procedures and fees may vary among countries and embassies/consulates.
We do hope that this information is clear and helpful for you.
Kindly regards,
Anna Quach

- You apply online at http://www.vietnam-visa.com
- Settle the payment (service fee) as per instructions
- Receive your visa approval letter after 1working day (urgent service), and 2 or 3 working days (normal service) via email
- You print the letter out and bring it together with your photos + passport to the arrival airport in Vietnam and pick up your visa there.
And now, you are ready to enter Vietnam!

Hello,
I’m a Polish citizen who stays in Bangkok, Thailand. I met Hungarian boy who told me he bought the visa on Sai Gon airport. He paid $50 for 4 months visa.
Can anyone answer me if he just was lucky or everyone can just buy such a good visa? I don’t know what to do – apply online or take a risk and just fly….
Thanks in advance for your answers

- Service fee: the fee is paid ONLINE for us to proceed the visa for you. Your Hungarian boy has just paid the service fee only. At the airport, he also needs to pay the stamping fee. You can click here for more price information http://www.vietnam-visa.com/pricing.html
- Stamping fee: For getting your visa stamped at VIETNAM airport, pay directly at the Vietnam airports for the Immigration officers by cash (in USD) at immigration Desk.
Thanks for your answer. Do I need to have a blank page for this type of visa (in VN airport) or it is just a stamp? I’m asking because my passport is full now…
Answer to Sati,
The stamp will be glued on your passport. If your passport now has no space for the new stamp, you should contact/come to your Embassy in Bangkok for asking to renew your passport.

For the visa on arrival:
Does the stamping fee has to be paid in USD cash? Or can it be paid in other currencies or by credit card?
Thanks

Dear Sir or Mam,
I am a German citizen and will fly to Bangkok on Thursday already. One or two days later I will fly to Hanoi, Vietnam. As there is no time left to apply for a visa at the embassy here in Germany, the online visa is very convenient for me. If I understand the comments on this forum correctly, I only need to bring the confirmation letter printed out + photos + USD to the immigration officer at hanoi airport to get my visa upon arrival??? so I don´t have to go to vietnam embassy at bangkok right?
thanks a lot and kind regards
To Fred,
Please be kindly informed you that if you apply for visa on arrival, you just need to show your visa approval letter, your passport, two photos, stamping fee (USD), exit and entry form (you need to fill in),so your visa will be stamped at the airport when you get to Vietnam. You do not need to Vietnam Embassy at Bangkok.
Kindly regards,
Julia

You say I need to take passport size photos, I have some brought from england but the dimensions asked for here are 4X6cm which are a bit larger. will there be a problem? or should I get some exactly this size…don’t want to get to the embassy just to be told to go and get new photos!

Dear Sir,
I need your help to answer a question about my Vietnam Visa.
I have a visa to Vitenam for SINGLE ENTRY. I will take Dragon Air to fly from Hongkong to Hanoi for a conference on Aug.5. After the coference, I will take Air Asia to fly from Hanoi to Bangkok on Aug. 9 morning and tour there for a week.
My return ticket of Dragon Air from HANOI to HONG KONG is on Aug. 16 . Therefore, I will take Air Asia at 6:40am to fly from BKK to Hanoi again and arrive in Hanoi at around 8:00am on Aug 16 and then take Dragon Air
two hours later at 10:35 am on the same day Aug 16 to transfer fly to Hong Kong.
My question is, “Do I need to have another Vietnam visa to transfer in Hanoi Airport? or could I
just go to Dragon Air to check in at Hanoi Airport and transfer to Hong Kong?”
Your prompte answer will be highly appreciated.

I’m Russian, currently leaving in Bangkok.
I have a couple of weeks to travel in Asia. I plan to travel by bus/train and boat Thailand – Cambodia – Vietnam – Malaysia.
I heard that Russian citizens traveling to Vietnam for less then 14 days do NOT need VISA. Is it ?! Does it mean I can easily enter and leave the country, let’s say in 3 – 4 days just with my passport?
OR what documents I need present at the boarder?
Thank you!

Hi,
I am an Australian citizen travelling with my daughter on holiday to Vietnam in approximately two weeks but do not yet have a Visa. We are arriving in Bangkok on Monday 19 September 2011 (next week) before travelling to Cambodia on 21 September and then on to Vietnam on 30 September 2011. Unfortunately I have left it too late to comfortably get a Vietnam Visa in Australia before I leave as I am in Brisbane and the Vietnam Embassy is in either Sydney or Canberra.
I am hoping that we can apply for a Visa in the Vietnam Embassy in Bangkok. I assume we simply need to complete the Visa Application form (on the Embassy web site), provide two passport sized photos and our passports and go to your office in Bangkok. I am just wondering how long this process takes? Can we wait for them to be processed or will it take several hours.
Thank you for considering my request. Your advice would be greatly appreciated.
Regards

My girlfriend and I will be entering Vietnam overland from Cambodia and we’ re wondering what the best way to obtain a visa. We will be in Bangkok in three days, so would we apply online for a visa approval code then take this with documents to Vietnam embassy? Would the visa be granted on the day or would it involve waiting around for a few days? Also approximately how much would it cost. Thanks

Hi Admin,
I am an Indian citizen who wants to travel to vietnam from bangkok. It says on the vietnam- visa website that Indian citizens are not eligible for visa on arrival and I need to apply through the visa embassy in another city in India. which will take upto 10 working days.
This is not a viable option for me because My flights will go for a waste since I have already booked them. Is it possible for me to get a visa from the vietnam embassy in thailand/cambodia. Please advice me on this issue as soon as you can.
Best Regards.
To the Admin,
My husband and I will be in Bangkok from June 11-16. We require to apply for Vientnam visa to go to Hanoi from Jun17-23. Would it be quicker if we apply on line before we leave Australia and when we arrive in Bkk. then we can go to the Embassy to get the visa stamp in our passports.
1. How much will it cost?
2. Will we get our visa straight away without having to pay extra for an urgent service?
I have been trying to ring the embassy in Bkk the whole morning to enquire about this matters, but the lines have been busy.
We look forward to your reply regarding this matter.
Yours sincerely,
